Dawn Nida

Dawn Nida was born and raised in St.Petersburg, Florida. She graduated from the University of Florida (GO GATORS) with her BS in Materials Engineering. She then obtained a Master’s degree in Materials Engineering from NC State and a Ph.D in Biomedical Engineering from Rice University. She is currently developing biosensors for US Army Labs in Natick. Her goal is to become the chief scientist at US Army Labs. Someday she hopes she can replace Ira Flatow on NPR’s Science Friday.
Dawn enjoys endurance racing including 50K runs, marathons, half-ironman triathlons, and 5K swims. She enjoys endurance events because they make her feel strong and invincible, once you finish such an event the strength and passion carries over into other parts of life. When she is not watching college football (Gators, Hurricanes and Longhorns) or listening to gangster rap she is mountain biking, trail running, kayaking or swimming. A southern transplant, Dawn has taken up cross-country skiing and snowshoeing and loves that New England allows her to be active year round. Dawn is lucky to have found friends that make New England feel like home.
