What resonates deeply with Sarah Gardner is empowering others to make a difference and leave their mark. She believes deeply that each person is alive with possibility and can make a profound difference.
Sarah received her Master of Education from Boston University in Human Movement in 1994. She then began a career in Personal Training. She enjoyed designing workouts for clients that were somewhat unconventional for standard gyms and as a result branched out and began her own in home personal training business. Today, with seven trainers, Perfect Form In-Home training is going strong.
Seven years ago Sarah discovered yoga. Without a doubt, it was the first time in her fitness journey that the mind, body, and soul were connected. Yoga brought new joy to her life and then played a key role in providing space to truly understand her reason for being. Sarah’s greatest purpose, after being mom to Will (10) and Emma (8) and sharing a life with her husband, Geoff, is living a life of service. In 2009, after completing work with Landmark Education it became very clear to her that yoga was going to be the vehicle for her to help others. Sarah began planning a Yogathon at Gillette Stadium to benefit Children’s Hospital Boston. It was her gift to thank the organizations that helped her son who was born 10 weeks premature, weighing three pounds.
Sarah established Yoga Reaches Out, a non-profit with the mission of bringing the yoga community together to create seva (selfless service). Through yoga events, Yoga Reaches Out focuses on raising funds for organizations that impact the health, education, and well-being of children. Sarah sees it as a win-win: do what we love to do and pay it forward at the same time.
On September 19, 2010, Yoga Reaches Out held its first event at Gillette Stadium’s Field House. Close to 500 yogis fundraised prior to the event and participated with a deep connection and purpose. Their efforts produced almost a quarter of a million dollars! In addition, Yoga Reaches Out is proud to have helped create a yoga program for at-risk children at the Home for Little Wanderers in Boston, organize benefit yoga classes to fundraise for Horizons for Homeless Children in Boston, and so much more. Yoga Reaches Out is thrilled to be planning its second Yogathon at Gillette Stadium to benefit Children’s Hospital Boston in May, 2012.
Sarah believes that life is about taking the ordinary and making it extraordinary.
She created Yoga Reaches Out to make a difference by bringing people together who love yoga, and want to take their passion and use that energy to give back. Yoga Reaches Out brings yogis together who are committed to bringing their level of yoga to a level of service. For Sarah, what happens on her yoga mat is her inhale and Yoga Reaches Out is her exhale.
