"Coach" Bill Sumner

Cal Coast Running, CdMHS Cross Country/Track Coach

Bill Sumner , known as “Coach” to most is an Orange County native. He is involved in many running events around the area and has run with the best of the best. His impressive resume includes having completed 54 marathons, competing in 27 Olympic qualifiers, and boasting over 50 years of running experience. He is currently the head coach of the Cal Coast Track Club, for which he has dedicated himself for the past 35 years. He also coaches for Corona Del Mar High School, and is the Race Director for the OC Half Marathon. We are beyond ecstatic to have Coach as an ambassador for lululemon, and look forward to all our “Coach of the Year” (yep, ESPN said so) has to bring to our community! Read the profile >>

Erika Burkhalter began practicing yoga at an age when most of us were watching cartoons on Sunday mornings. Intrigued by a PBS yoga series at the age of nine, Erika knew from an early age that she had found something she loved. Years later, she went on to complete her teacher training programs and began teaching yoga in 1999. Over the next few years, she sought out advanced training with well-known yogis from all over the globe, evening practicing in India. Gillian Formaneck

Gillian Formaneck has been involved with CrossFit since 2006 and has her Level 1 Certification. She comes from a background in distance running, and is now a competitive Olympic Weightlifter. Gillian is a student working toward a kinesiology degree and aspires to become a college Strength & Conditioning Coach. She has competed in the CrossFit Games (2008) and three national Olympic Weightlifting meets, as well as a ten year career in running. Having always had a ridiculous passion for being active and running around outdoors, Jaime has been involved in a broad spectrum of athletic and fitness endeavors since the day she could say “It’s go time!”. :) Jaime openly embraces the lululemon culture, and brings this energy, focus, and positivity into every aspect of her life. Jaime played water polo at UCLA, earning 3 NCAA Championships, as well as being an All-American all four years. Jennifer Buckley is a certified advanced fitness trainer that is able to apply her training and knowledge to high school students on a daily basis. She coaches cross country and track at Corona del Mar High School. She is also certified in Aerobics and Step by AfAA and has taught for 25 years at 24 hour fitness. She graduated from CSUF with degrees in both biology and psychology. Running is her one of her greatest passions. She races all distances, 5ks, trail runs, marathons and even some ultra marathons. She just completed her 55th marathon and is registered for two more this year. She is the mother of four children and has one grandchild and another on the way. Jessica Duwe is an owner of The Bar Method Newport Beach with ambassador Whitney Bania. Whitney and Jessica became friends while living in San Francisco when both were addicted to taking Bar Method classes. They then were trained by The Bar Method creator Burr Leonard and started teaching in the San Francisco studios. A Pasadena native, Jessica is a graduate of UC Berkeley and ended up living in San Francisco for many years after graduating. She was eager to move back to Southern California, so she and Whitney decided to open The Bar Method's first Orange County location at Crystal Cove Promenade. Kelly Curtis has always been a dancer. From the time she was 2, she began her competitive dance career specializing in Jazz and Ballet. After high school, Kelly attended Orange Coast College to obtain her Fitness Specialist Certificate as dancing naturally led her to physical therapy. Kelly has spent substantial time working with and rehabilitating autistic children through ABA as well. From this venture, Kelly moved back toward the fitness industry, obtaining her pilates certification from BASI.
