Frank Mauro was introduced to the basic principals of Hatha yoga practice as a young boy by his father. Later as an adult, in 1990 his interest in eastern and western philosophies, particularly the study of yoga asana began to take root. After dedicating almost a decade of studying with various world renowned and local teachers Frank’s interest began to lean toward teaching. It wasn’t until early 2001 that he decided to train with his primary teacher Cyndi Lee, director of the Om yoga center in NYC. Kate Hickl brings her infectious energy and passion for fitness from deep in the heart of Texas. Born and raised just outside Houston, Kate spent her early years running up and down basketball courts, around soccer fields, softball fields and tracks. In 2001, Kate left the big blue skies of Texas for the big city lights, moving to NYC where she began her career in advertising. In her spare time, she found the easiest form of fitness in NY to be running, completing numerous half-marathons and the 2004 New York Marathon. Kristen stumbled into her first yoga class in downtown Manhattan sometime in the spring of 2002. At the time, she was an indie music publicist, spending far more time in rock clubs than health clubs. After a few months of struggling at Bikram Yoga Soho, swearing most every class that she would never come back, things slowly began to change. It was definitely not love at first stretch, but she somehow realized that yoga was beginning to have a profound healing effect in her life.
