Carla has made sports and athletics a lifestyle. She had a long career in competitive tennis capped by winning the Mid American Conference at #1 singles. She has also completed numerous triathlons, and most recently attained a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and is continuing to train towards higher belt levels. A freak touch football accident required reconstructive ACL knee surgery in 1997. Seeking to find a new means of exercise, she found her home on the yoga mat. In 2007, Carla completed her decade long dream and became a certified yoga teacher. She studied under the respected Daren Freisen at Moksha Yoga Center and is still actively involved as a mentor. She has assisted Master teacher Lori Gaspar and studied anatomy with Master Iyengar teacher Tias Little. Her progressive Vinyasa teaching style is passion driven, creative and introspective, actively incorporating proper alignment cues with a keen focus on strength, encouraging students to reach their highest potential. The authentic hour and a half practice includes breathing exercises (pranayama), postures (asana), and meditation (dhyana). Students leave her class feeling euphoric, alive and a little sweaty.
