Jennifer Tom

Running has always been a large part of Jen’s life. She started running while in high school, competing in Cross Country and Track. She continued running at the Division 1 level at Fairleigh Dickinson University from 1996-2000. After college Jen pursued life in the corporate world as a highly successful Sales Manager. However, running maintained a part of her daily life. In the beginning of 2012 Jen made the decision to focus all of her time to a competitive running career.

Building Success Over the Last Year:
With her leap into competitive running she had success at Hawaii's largest road race, the Great Aloha Run (GAR). She was the 9th female and the first woman from Maui in a race with over 20,000 runners. Her success from GAR got her an invite to participate as a member of Team Hawaii for the Hapalua Half Marathon Chase (1 of 12). After the Chase, placed 2nd at the 5th Annual St. Patrick's Day Run 'til You're Green 5K. Jen also had great success with two wins in the Half Marathon distance on Maui in February & March along with 5K & 10K wins. Towards the middle of 2013 Jen started working with coach Matt Holton. In September, Jen won the 2nd annual Hard Rock 10K .

Future Dreams:
While Jen has been running for the last 20 years of her life, she is starting a new journey into the world as a elite female distance runner. She is currently training for the Honolulu Marathon in December, looking to break 3 hours for the distance. 2014 will be a very exciting year for Jen; new training, speed, strength, and a more focused race schedule will prepare her for success. She is looking to be one of the top distance runners in the state, region, and at a national level. One of her main goals will be running a qualifying mark for the 2016 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials (2:43 for the marathon or 1:15 for the half marathon).
