Heather Wood, Ambassador Alumni

Attaining Yoga Studio

After hurting her back, again, working out at the gym, Heather decided to give that “yoga” class a try. She thought it might be a good way to stretch since she was in too much pain to attend her favorite step aerobics class. That was all it took! Just one class and she knew she was hooked. That weekly gym class soon transformed into a daily practice. Wanting to know more about why and how her body and mind were shifting she attended her first yoga teacher training at the Prem Wellness Center in West Palm Beach. Once certified and registered with Yoga Alliance in 2003, she continued studying yoga and went on to become certified in Pre-Natal Yoga and Restorative Yoga. Holly Briscoe

Oxygen Wellness Center, Kula Yoga Shala, Jupiter Fitness Center

I have been a student of Yoga for at least 10 years now. I was drawn to Yoga because I thought the movement was beautiful to watch. I was VERY frustrated at first by how inflexible and weak I felt - it was humbling. I'm so thankful I stuck with it. Soon I started to feel stronger, healthier, centered, more balanced and peaceful. My life began to change in wonderful and unexpected ways. I learned to love and honor my body. I finally saw the beauty in patience, discipline and being still. Somewhere along the way I found my voice and began to use it. I started focusing on being more conscious. I look back now and realize I was waking up. I began to listen to my intuition and later trust it. I got stronger – mind, body and spirit. Even now, every day brings a new lesson. I... Read the profile >>

Kelly Hardersen

KH Fitness

Kelly Hardersen grew up with a love of dance and exercise. She began taking classes at an early age. After graduating from high school, she was offered a job dancing in various shows for Disney. Kelly worked for Disney for eight years where she began to get into fitness and exercise. She was offered a position in Disneyland in Tokyo, Japan. But culture shock and missing her family and friends back home made her 30 pounds heavier in only three months. Kelly found herself really uncomfortable with the weight and even if she was doing eight to ten shows per day, she began to take aerobics classes, train with weights and watching her diet carefully so she can maintain a peak performance. When she came back from Tokyo, Kelly was in better shape than when she left, exercising routinely... Read the profile >>
