Kelly Hardersen grew up with a love of dance and exercise. She began taking classes at an early age. After graduating from high school, she was offered a job dancing in various shows for Disney.
Kelly worked for Disney for eight years where she began to get into fitness and exercise. She was offered a position in Disneyland in Tokyo, Japan. But culture shock and missing her family and friends back home made her 30 pounds heavier in only three months. Kelly found herself really uncomfortable with the weight and even if she was doing eight to ten shows per day, she began to take aerobics classes, train with weights and watching her diet carefully so she can maintain a peak performance.
When she came back from Tokyo, Kelly was in better shape than when she left, exercising routinely and loving it. With this new-found passion, Kelly got certified to teach aerobics by Aerobics and Fitness Association of America and began the Intensive Personal Training Certification Program and was later certified by the American Council on Exercise (ACE).
In 1994 Kelly was teaching aerobics and personal training when she began to feel the competitive spirit. She had always been a person who challenged herself rather than compete against others. She says her mindset was “competing with Kelly” and placed her skills and dedication together and went on to win the United States National Aerobic Championships that year.
Kelly was everywhere, from fitness competitions, ESPN, and national magazines. She became the Women’s Tri-Fitness Champion in 1998 and 1999 and broke her own record in the obstacle course in 2004, a record that remains unmatched today. In 1999 Kelly was also crowned Miss Fitness Universe.
Today, Kelly’s training business, KH Fitness, is based at the private training facility, Juno Beach Fitness. She also does home training for a number of clients as well as instructs group fitness and dance. Kelly is CPR Certified as well as holding certifications from National Exercise & Sports Trainers Association and Group Power, Group Groove, Group Step and Group Centergy certifications by Body Training Systems. All her “group” classes are held at Stayin’ Alive Fitness Center in Palm Beach Gardens.
