Anthony Pomponio

Anthony began his athletic career by running track and playing basketball and football in high school. He went on to play football at Whittier College, where he was not only a four year letter winner, he lead the league in rushing and touchdowns his senior year - finishing with 990 yards and 12 touchdowns in 9 games. After college, he played one season of professional football in in Switzerland. When he returned home, he had a short stint in competitive body building competitions before he met co-owner of the Yard Authentic Strength and Barbell, Nick Frasca. Since then, about 2 1/2 years ago, he has submersed himself in to the sport of Olympic Lifting. Anthony is a nationally ranked athlete, and highly sought after coach in the sport.

Anthony was awared "Coach of the Year" at the Olympic Lifting Junior Nationals in 2013 after helping coach four athletes to gold medals in various age and weight classes throughout the year. He was also named the California State Games Lifter of the Year in 2012, and most recently placed 4th in the 86kg weight class at the American Open in December. Next up? Pomp will be competing at Nationals in July. Placing in this competition could earn him a spot on the World's Team. Keep an eye out, folks! This Road to Rio isn't something you want to miss.
