The first time yoga crossed Liana's path was in high-school, and it came in the form of a video tape as a possible way to heal a back injury. Having gotten more than she expected out of disciplined practice over the course of just three months, the seed was planted and sprouted several years later. Certified through Dhyana Yoga, her teaching path began in 2005. Through this platform, she shares tools and techniques that have been passed down for thousands of years to help other people feel better in their bodies and align with their highest self. She has an uncanny ability to gently encourage the beginner student, challenge the seasoned practitioner, and inspire a loving and deep spiritual connection. Her passionate and inspirational style of teaching is a balanced fusion of informed, flow-style yoga with attention to healthy, energetic alignment, spiritual intention, playfulness and humor.
Over the past few years, she has taught domestically and abroad at festivals, such as Burning Man and PEX Summer Fest, with Lululemon in Philadelphia, and at public & private events. In 2010, Liana had the unique opportunity to take her teaching abroad to the Peruvian Amazon, where she was a shamanic apprentice working with plant medicines. There, she gratefully served as a yoga and fire arts teacher, and an avid student of nature. She has since co-created Hoop Vinyasa, a yoga and hula-hoop fusion, which was featured in Yoga Journal and Shape Magazine in Germany. And has also traveled to teach in Costa Rica, and co-led a yoga & breathwork retreat in Tulum, Mexico.
You can find her teaching primarily at the Dhyana Yoga Schools in the Philadelphia area, and out of her home studio. Keep an eye out for her special workshops, like Yoga-Puncture with Caroline Grace Ashurst, Yoga + Chocolate with Rachel Goldberg, Hoop Vinyasa Playshops, and more!
