Sally Sherman is a dancer, triathlete, yogi and educator in Pittsburgh, PA. Sally holds a B.A. in Dance, an M.Ed. in Teaching, and an M.S. in Exercise Science. After years of overtraining as a dancer and dance teaching artist, yoga in a heated room became a beautiful way to heal a damaged body and spirit. Little did she know, yoga was going to transform her life and help her to make everything possible. She is a now a certified Baptiste instructor and has assisted in trainings for Baron Baptiste and Amazing Yoga. Still dancing, she continues to perform her own choreography in the Pittsburgh region and beyond. She serves as a faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh and at Grove City College where she teaches courses in Dance, Yoga and Exercise Science.
Sally is a 2nd year Ph.D. student in Exercise Physiology at the University of Pittsburgh where her research focus is studying the Vinyasa Yoga that she loves. She hopes to uncover the data about this practice that will enable it to be more respected in the medical community.
As a triathlete, Sally is a sponsored member of the Reaction Nutrition Triathlon Team where she competes in long-distance cycling events, marathons and 70.3 Ironman triathlons. Sally will complete her first full distance 140.3- mile triathlon in 2015. She uses these events to raise money for local charities including food banks, the Salvation Army and Toys for Tots. As a melanoma survivor, she aims to bring awareness to skin cancer prevention especially among the athletes who spend so much time in the sunshine.
Her greatest achievement to date is as Lorelei’s mom, the role that teaches her full presence, love, and gratitude.
