Buddy Macuha

Buddy Macuha brings over 20 years to the fitness and yoga industry. Movement and performance have been an integral part of Buddy’s professional career, and today he trains, motivates and inspires his students to greater physical wellbeing. Drawing from his experience as a competitive athlete, holistic body worker, martial artist, gymnast, dancer, personal trainer, and actor; he applies this diverse background to blend a unique style that is challenging, insightful, playful and entertaining!

Buddy’s yoga journey began as a way to achieve balance while training for the National Aerobics Championship. Yoga facilitated the essential mind/body connection and reenergized his body, providing balance to the extreme physical and emotional demands of athletic competition. As his competitive days came to a close, he deepened his study of yoga, cultivating mindfulness and enhancing his life “on and off the mat”. His intention is to help other yogis find similar health benefits and self-discovery with each class. Buddy is a Vinyasa specialist who finds a creative outlet in challenging student’s minds and bodies with interesting sequences and personal insight while being present and accepting of every student’s ability. He was trained through the Yogaworks teaching method and finds inspiration from his gurus, Annie Carpenter, Julie Kleinman and his good friend, Alanna Kaivalya. He is excited to be the Lead Teacher for the Pure Yoga Teacher Training at Equinox Gym and plans on inspiring the next generation of yoga teachers with his signature style and energy.

Buddy’s cycling journey began when he started teaching indoor cycling. He enjoyed it so much that he earned certifications from Johnny G., Precision Cycling, and LeMond RevMaster to exam each style and incorporated their philosophies into his classes. He is now a Master Trainer for Keiser Fitness Company and travels around the country motivating instructors to become their best. He has completed 3-AIDS Lifecycle Rides and plans to lead a team of cyclists in 2011. His packed classes are world-famous for being motivating, having the best music, and bringing people to new levels of fitness.

His certifications include the American Council on Exercise and the Aerobic & Fitness Association of America. His accomplishments include appearances on KRON 4, KPIX 5, Good Day Sacramento, NBC Network and KFOG Radio as their ‘fitness guru’. He has provided regular interviews for the San Francisco Chronicle, SF Weekly, San Francisco Magazine, Daily Candy and Lifetime TV.
