-Why do you do what you do? I teach yoga for the balance and stability that it has brought to my life. I love people and love that anyone can do yoga! -3 things you love to do? I love to sweat, eat and hang out with my family. -if not teaching-what other activities do you love to sweat? Running, Martial Arts (Krav Maga, Kickboxing) Working out with Meredith at Level 10, and swimming -if you had a million dollars what would you do first? Hmmm, money is definitely not my drive but if I had a million dollars I would take my parents to Lebanon to reconnect to my families roots. As a collegiate athlete I spent my early mornings rowing on the Grand River in Grand Rapids, MI with a crew of amazing women, and my afternoons studying Exercise Science. Just for fun I got into Cardio Kickboxing and fell in love with TurboKick! This is where I started to have more fun working out than I every would have imagined! Making fitness fun is a huge priority of mine, which is why I started teaching Fitness Classes and Personal Training. One of my fitness heroes, Chalene Johnson (creator of Turbokick), once said that the best gift you can give someone is a compliment....so to further explain a little bit about myself, you’ve got to hear about the people who surround me... She discovered her love of movement, however, long before that as a competitive teen gymnast, which then opened the door to the world of contemporary dance and professional modern dance performance. In 1996, Shelley was fortunate to find yoga and pilates as a healing addition and alternative to the rigors of training and performance. Since then, yoga has provided her with more than a moving expression of meditation; it has become a way of life. Her passion for learning, experiencing, and teaching yoga and pilates grew into a successful boutique neighborhood studio, The Pilates Room & Yoga Lounge in Hermosa Beach, which Shelley co-owned and operated for 7... Health and fitness has always been a lifelong passion of mine and the choices I have made along the way have led me to where I am today, an endurance athlete with a strong desire to support others in reaching their ‘Level 10’ health and fitness goals. Ever since then I have been competing in local 5K and 10K races and building up to half and full marathons. Over the past 5 years I have taken my fitness and nutrition regime to a whole new level, pushing my athletic abilities beyond what I thought imaginable including my most recent accomplishment of running the 2011 Boston Marathon in under 4 hours, just 16 days after competing in one of the country’s hardest...
