An avid goal-setter, Alice has spent the last 7 years redefining her definitions of a physical and mental health, genuine happiness, and appreciation and gratitude for a fit and strong body. She has done so by opening herself up to change and possibility for a brighter future and in the process lost 80 lbs; made new lifestyle commitments; completed five half marathons, two 30km races, and two marathons; became a yoga teacher; and relearned how to connect with people by sharing her enthusiasm and passion for yoga and running.
Alice began running 5km and 10km races in 2006 and trained for her first half marathon in 2008. Her goal? To beat her sister's personal best. The result? Beating it by a few seconds. The outcome? Unexpectedly becoming hooked on running due to the fantastic running community she discovered along the way. After a hiatus for a few running seasons due to injuries, Alice was drawn back to the running world last year and began training for her first marathon. Determined to train for sustainable, injury-free running, she completed her first in May 2011 and has planned her marathon schedule for the next few years now that she's caught the marathon fever! 2012 destinations include the Ottawa and Chicago marathons!
When not running, Alice can be found on the mat. Alice teaches and practices at Moksha Yoga Danforth, Downtown, Uptown and North York. A big goal for Alice is to integrate these two passions that are very different, yet very similar. And when it’s not running or yoga, you can find Alice cuddling with her dog; cycling around town; strength training or spinning; attending arts and cultural events; working as Director of Program for Canadian Heritage; cooking; and traveling, to B.C. in particular, to visit her family.
Alice is thrilled and honoured to be a Run Club ambassador for Toronto Eaton Centre. Alice wants to inspire others to find inner strength, wants to be part of the supportive community that allows people to reach goals, and wants to be able to relate to where people are coming from - from whatever place they're starting from. She looks forward to growing the lululemon run community and sharing in every victory, from a first kilometer to a tenth marathon.
