Sam is a runner, a Toronto lover, a Prairie girl at heart, an aspiring chef, and a proud lululemon Ambassador.
What gets Sam up in the morning is the knowledge and gratitude that her body and mind are able to move.
Sam has been running since she was 10. She's been a competitive sprinter through her entire life - throughout middle and high school for the Winnipeg Optimists track club, going to the Legion Nationals and the Canadian Junior Track and Field Championships and the 2001 Canada Summer Games. In university, she was on the University of Toronto Varsity Blues Track & Field sprints team for the 60m, 200m and the sprint relays, competing at the CIS Championships and the OUA Championships every year.
After graduation, she made the switch to running longer distances (5k to half marathons) and has been instructing clinics at the Commerce Court Running Room ever since. She has run 10 half marathons, and more than a dozen 5k and 10k races since 2004. You'll find Sam running around Commerce Court Running Room and lululemon Eaton Centre all the time - instructing and sharing the running love!
To Sam, being an ambassador means being a proud representative of all the lululemon values to the local fitness community when instructing, running, racing and training.
Sam is currently training to run in her first full marathon in May 2011 and hopes to qualify for the Boston Marathon.
Racing is her favourite part of running. It is a celebration of all the hard work and training, and the competition aspect piques her Type-A personality. However, her biggest victories come from seeing her clinic & run club participants cross the finish line of their races, especially those who do a distance that they never believed possible when they first began training.
In her spare time, Sam is falling madly in love with yoga and taking a professional chef training diploma.
