Leanna has been involved in the Canadian running community for over 15 years. As a participant in the sport, she has competed on the track, roads and cross country trials all around the world. Her dedication to the sport has allowed her to achieve many goals, including a bronze medal at the Canadian Olympic Trials in 2008 and an opportunity to compete for Canada at the 2009 Francophone Games in Beirut, Lebanon. To help with the growth of running in Canada, Leanna assists coaches at youth track and field practices and operates a run club for serious recreational runners. Additionally, she works as a biomedical researcher, developing assessment tools for surgeries designed to allow patients to stay active. Leanna is currently still participating in track and field and is ranked among the top 10 athletes in the country for her event.
