Ten years ago I viciously sprained my ankle in a soccer match. It was the 11th major sprain and it was the last time I was willing to endure the pain and immobility. As it turned out, it was also the best thing that ever happened to me.

Being a competitive athlete that trained on a daily basis and all of a sudden having nothing to do I decided to join the local gym. I walked into Iron Masters Gym when I was 17 years old and met Vito Ierrello. In a time when bicep curls, leg extensions and calf raises ruled the fitness gyms, Vito taught us to Squat, deadlift, press and power clean. These movements always stuck with me and always made sense to me so they remained the major portion of my training regiment all through the years leading up to my training in submission wrestling.

This venue was the most humbling to me. Here I found out that I wasn't very fit at all and that functional training was the missing part of my fitness. Still keeping my 4 main lifts I added ropes, heavy bags, tires, hammers and a host of other exercises that were simple but functional. On a daily basis I was searching the internet in hopes of finding some crazy workout for that day when I came across a program called CrossFit.

I was challenged like never before and reached fitness goals I never thought possible. After about 6 months of training I traveled to California and completed my level one certification. A year later I returned to California and completed my level 2 certification.

CrossFit Mississauga opened in December 2007 and has grown from our home garage to a 5000 square foot training facility. We're always up for a good hard workout so come in anytime and check us out.
