Not only in it’s innate ability to provide a natural playground for fitness and outdoor adventure, but in it’s capacity to provide and sustain life. Growing up as an over weight child, I had a lot of problems with low self esteem. I had to prove myself to everyone especially my peers, that there was much more to me then my figure. As a teenager the battle began. I worked hard to get myself out of that state of mind and realized that there is more to me than just my dress size. I am a sassy individual with lots to offer. I began my career as a Group Fitness instructor 14 years ago. I am an employee and Group Fitness Manager of one of the top fitness facilities in Toronto. Being picked last for a game of soccer wasn’t the best feeling for a 7 year old boy. Either was struggling to keep up with the other boys in gym class. He was determined not to be picked last again. In 1993, Edwin started his fitness career as one of the first certified muay thai instructors in Toronto. This lead to a pilates, yoga and spinning certifications. In 2003, his love for the fitness lifestyle developed into Akita Fitness, the first studio to specialize in kettlebell, yoga, muay thai, spinning and running. Following her bliss and traveling to explore the jungles and beaches of the rich coast, Kim planted her first yoga seeds in Costa Rica.Living and teaching yoga in a small beach community, she experienced a simple and peaceful life connecting with nature. Upon moving back to Canada, Kim set new roots in the Toronto yoga community and continues to further her studies in Vinyasa Flow, Restorative and Therapeutic yoga.She has a passion for philosophy, and studies the ancient yoga texts, chanting and meditation with Hali Schwartz. Leonor Mowry – aka. Leo – owns Village Yoga in Toronto, where she teaches private and group classes, specializing in helping people relieve chronic pain with therapeutic yoga. She is the co-author of “Advancing Your Yoga Practice: The Art of Slowing Down”, the fifth book in the world-renowned Anatomy and Asana series. Growing up a mathlete, meant always being the last chosen for a team. Despite a lack of talent, Virginia committed to working to her personal best at all endeavors.
