Justin was born in Amarillo, TX, and then moved to Oklahoma in the seventh grade. After moving to Tulsa, Justin found a passion for music and the drum-line at Union High school where he was a member of the line for four years. His love for sports and exercise started at an early age where he played ice hockey for three years. After a year of college, he decided that he needed something more challenging. In 1998, he joined the United States Marine Corps. Justin's love of camaraderie and leadership made the Marine Corps a perfect fit.
After bootcamp, he married the love of his life, Laura. He continued his education at The University of Oklahoma where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Aeronautical Engineering.
In September 2002, Laura and Justin were blessed with the bith of their only child, Kelsalyn. A few years later, Justin decided he missed the challenges of being physically active and the motivation the Marines had given him so he decided to begin long distance running. For four years, he trained for half marathons and marathons then naturally began coaching runners while also pacing local races. In January 2012, Justin obtained his Level 1 certification where he currently trains athletes at 918 Crossfit. He is also a coach for the 918 Crossfit Endurance program, where he continues to use his knowledge and experience to teach new, and old, runners more efficient ways to run.
