Thomsen is a member of the Callaghan Valley Training Centre, a cross-country ski National Development Centre aimed at qualifying nationally competitive racers for the Canadian National Team. Originally hailing from Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Thomsen has made Whistler his home for the past 3 years on his quest to qualify for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Thomsen’s favorite part about living and training in Whistler is the easy access to a vast network of outdoor training terrain and activities. His personal favorite training session in Whistler is a four-hour run to the top of Whistler Mountain up the Singing Pass trail and along the Musical Bumps. Can’t beat it on a nice sunny day!
When he’s not busy with his rigorous training schedule, Thomsen can be found studying University courses by correspondence, promoting healthy lifestyles among youth, and of course practicing yoga at the Lululemon complimentary classes. Thomsen is stoked to be living in such a wonderful place, with access to world-class training facilities in the mountains and at the Whistler Olympic Park.
